Tyrese Maxey, Sixers explain what went wrong late in loss to Knicks

Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers explain what went wrong late in a home loss to the New York Knicks.

PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers had a chance to knock off the New York Knicks at home despite missing both James Harden and Joel Embiid. They built a 12-point lead in the fourth and it looked like they were going to ride the momentum to an upset win.

Instead, the Knicks buckled down and they rallied to knock off Philadelphia 106-104. They outscored the Sixers 32-21 in the final stanza and they held the Sixers to 27.3% shooting in the fourth while they shot 55.6% from the floor. They also held the Sixers to 3-for-13 shooting from deep in the final quarter.

The Sixers were up 91-81 with 6:57 left following a triple by De’Anthony Melton, but New York ended the game on a 25-13 run and they were aided by Melton missing a triple from the corner with 3.3 ticks on the clock. Tyrese Maxey drove before he kicked it out to a wide-open Melton, but he just missed it.
