The Philadelphia 76ers have begun to change their lineups and rotation. For the second straight game, the Sixers had Tyrese Maxey come off the bench. As a result, the expectations and players he is out there with are different.
Maxey had 22 points in Philadelphia’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday. He was out there with Shake Milton in the backcourt rather than James Harden. While Maxey, obviously, played a good bit with Harden, the focus is going to be his partnership with Milton.
“We’ve been friends for a long time and I think what really helps that chemistry is we really wanna see each other succeed and we want to see the team succeed,” Maxey told reporters of his relationship with Milton. “So because of that, we’re able to play off each other, we’re able to defer to one another, but still both of us being aggressive at the same time.”
That is what the Sixers need from this new bench unit. They will need both Maxey and Milton to co-exist and co-lead the bench unit. That second group will go as those two go, so that is going to be a key development to keep an eye on.
