The Philadelphia 76ers are off to an 8-2 start and sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference thanks to a recent 6-game winning streak that has coincided with the return of Shake Milton.

The fourth-year guard out of SMU missed the first four games of the season due to a right ankle sprain, but since his return, the Sixers have won all six of the games he has played in and it has given the team a spark. He is averaging 11.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists off the bench and he has given the team another ball-handler out on the floor while also giving another scoring option.

Milton has been starting with Tyrese Maxey lately as the team goes through being so shorthanded at the moment due to the health and safety protocols as well as other injuries. The combination of Milton and Maxey has been dynamic out on the floor as they have been able to play off each other well.

“When he’s out there, it brings a certain amount of creativity on ball creativity for himself and for others,” said Maxey. “I feel like I can do a little bit of the same as well. So can Seth (Curry) so that’s multiple guys who can create for himself and others.”

Milton had a big game in Saturday’s win over the Chicago Bulls when he had 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists with zero turnovers in 35:31 of playing time. Philadelphia has been in need of more help in the aspect of ball-handling as well as another guy who can score from the perimeter.

On top of that, he has been solid on the defensive end. He had two steals and a block in the win over the Bulls and he has been standing out a bit on that end.

“It’s been great for this entire group,” Maxey added. “We know what Shake N’ Bake is capable of. He’s bringing great energy every time he steps on the court. His defense, he’s taking on defensive assignments, and we know what he brings to the table offensively. He’s going out there creating shots for others and creating shots for himself and giving us a great change of pace.”

Philadelphia will be looking to continue to build momentum with Milton back with the team. His presence has been a big help for this team off their bench and he will look to keep it going.
