Tyler Herro nearly made playoff history on Tuesday after finishing just one assist shy of recording his first career triple-double as the Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Herro recorded 12 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in 40 minutes of work during the 117-114 overtime victory. According to StatMuse, Herro would have tied Hall of Famer Magic Johnson as the second-youngest player in NBA history to record a playoff triple-double. Johnson was the youngest player in history to accomplish the feat.

The 20-year-old once again came up big for the Heat after he hit two clutch 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one with 1:02 left to cut the Celtics’ lead to two points. The performance was his 10th straight playoff game with at least 10 points, tying Dwyane Wade for the longest streak by a rookie in franchise postseason history, according to ESPN.

The Heat improved to 9-1 in the playoffs with the win as it proved to be their most difficult one up until this point. Miami got through the first two rounds with little resistance for the most part but struggled out of the gate versus Boston.

Herro, who on Tuesday was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, has been remarkable for the Heat throughout the postseason. He has not yet backed down from any moment to this point and has shown that he can be trusted in crunch-time situations.

Game 2 is set to tip-off on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
