Evan Stewart’s recruitment has been quite the roller coaster.
The five-star wide receiver initially announced his commitment to Texas on Feb. 18. Less than one month later, he chose to open his recruitment and officially decommitted from the Longhorns.
Since then, he has flirted with different fan bases on Twitter and has made numerous visits to different programs. Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, and Texas have each hosted the Frisco native recently.
Texas has consistently remained among the top schools to land Stewart, and it now appears to be a two-school battle between Texas and Texas A&M.
Unfortunately for the Longhorns, Gigem247 insider Brian Perroni and 247Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong each entered a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Aggies on Wednesday.
It still shows an even percentage the two in-state programs, but that’s due to the previous crystal balls entered in favor of Texas in January.
Stewart is rated the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class and the top overall prospect from the state of Texas, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
At a crucial position of need, he’s been widely discussed as a must-get recruit for Texas this cycle.
Hold your horses.
