With the fourth pick in the very weird 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas.
The first three picks went as most expected and then the Giants went ahead and took Thomas to protect Daniel Jones for the foreseeable future.
Big Blue tried hard to find a trade partner to move back and stockpile picks but were unsuccessful. Many thought the pick would eventually be an offensive tackle and that’s exactly what the Giants did.
Many took to Twitter reacted to the pick:
Giants pull off another mild first-round surprise: OT Andrew Thomas. Teams love him; but the fan reaction would have been great.

Per D. Jeremiah: "For me, he was my No. 4 OT, but he has a very high floor."
That's exactly how I feel about Andrew Thomas. A solid, steady player. Not the type of prospect I would take at 4. Not the OT I would take first. Let's hope the #Giants get this right

Not the tackle I thought, but a very good one. At the end of the college season everyone thought he was the best tackle in the draft. He seemed to fall in the rankings after that, but obviously not in the Giants' eyes.

Giants picked their franchise left tackle in Andrew Thomas. They had their choice of linemen in a praised class. Strong commitment to protect investments Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley.

The Giants had their pick of every offensive tackle.
They liked Andrew Thomas best.

Giants surprised everyone with their pick not that they took an OT, but that particular OT. Other 4 picks weren’t a surprise for me. Fins were sending red herrings, Tua was always their guy.

My understanding is the Giants had Andrew Thomas as their top tackle all along. Liked Tristan Wirfs as well but Thomas was their No. 1. #NFLDraft

You can expect this pick will help the Giants in the immediate future. Not only to protect Daniel Jones from pass rushers like Chase Young, but the pick should also help improve the Giants rushing attack:
Welcome to NY Andrew!!! Happy to have you !

A former Giants offensive lineman shared his thoughts on the pick and of course, what kind of night would it be without something from former Giant Odell Beckham Jr. who congratulated the Giants’ first round pick?
Giants take Andrew Thomas. I’m a tad surprised. Solder moves to RT. Thomas needs some work with his hands, but has outstanding footwork and movement skills. The hands can be fixed imo https://t.co/1qlGaPgJ7m

And big congrats to @allforgod_55 !! Best of luck in your career homie!

One of the Biggest Giants fans out there, Dave Rothenberg, was pleased with the pick:
Perfectly fine with this @Giants pick. Let’s go!!!

The Giants posted a video from some Giants fans you might know who were certainly happy with the pick:
The @jonasbrothers have a message for Andrew Thomas 💯 pic.twitter.com/g6AYPbv68t

There are some who believe that Thomas was the best all-around tackle in the draft, but there is, of course, those who believe that the Giants could have taken him a bit later if they were to have traded back. In a potential twist, the Giants may not have had the opportunity to draft Thomas:
Why would the Giants not trade back!!!??
— Jordan Simone (@JordanSimone38) April 24, 2020
Had the #Dolphins traded up for an OT, the pick would’ve been #Georgia OT Andrew Thomas. Instead, he goes No. 4 and Miami has its choice of QBs — Tua or Herbert.
