All eyes have been on the Chicago Bears over the last three days as they plotted to make an anticipated move for a quarterback.
While they were in contract discussions with Teddy Bridgewater and showed interest in Cam Newton and Andy Dalton via trade, ultimately general manager Ryan Pace settled on bringing in a face that’s familiar to a lot of the Bears’ offensive coaching staff.
The Bears traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles, officially signaling the beginning of a quarterback competition with Mitchell Trubisky.
The reaction on Twitter was, to say, interesting.
Mostly, Twitter was outraged at the Bears trading for Foles, especially when Cam Newton was still out there.
If I had the words to describe how I feel right now about Nick Foles being a Chicago Bear, I would get suspended again for violent language

Trading for Nick Foles is like when you think you're out of beer and the stores are closed, but you find a Michelob Ultra in the back of your fridge.
It might not be your first choice (or second or third), but it will get the job done.

Nick Foles broke his collarbone and got beat out by a 6th round rookie just last year https://t.co/gM3CkbsOjJ

In 2017, the Chicago Bears traded up to the #2 overall pick to Draft Mitch Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. 3 years later, they just traded for Nick Foles to be an upgrade at the QB position. L.O.L.

"Nick Foles to Jimmy Graham…. and it falls incomplete"
Just as we all expected this year from the Chicago Bears offense.

I’m so sick of being a bears fan man. Every season. Every season we do something stupid. Just when we have a former MVP in our laps we do something like this. I don’t get it.

The Bears got Nick Foles? He's worse than Trubisky 🤣🤣🤣
— Sign Yoelqui Cespedes (@CoolBusterPosey) March 18, 2020
So the #Bears have passed on Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes, Cam Newton and Jameis Winston and instead drafted Mitch Trubisky, signed Mike Glennon and traded for Nick Foles? I’m not one to jump to conclusions but I sense a pattern here 🧐 https://t.co/5zzdz6xyfn

Nick Foles vs Mitch Trubisky. Still not sure the #Bears have a #NFL quality starting QB
— Greg Divers (@GDive) March 18, 2020
I’m assuming the #Bears are trading for #NickFoles in order to have a plausible reason to go back to #MitchTrubisky once Foles inevitably gets injured.

The Bears are so bad at Quarterback picking. I think I can do better with a dart board.

Some people are getting Jimmy Graham vibes with this move. (And we saw how well that reaction went over.)
THIS IS THE SEQUEL TO MY @TheJimmyGraham TWEET. BUT @NickFoles THE BEARS? THE BEARS!!!! I HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT LOYAL TO YOU THIS IS VERY RUDE.

First Jimmy Graham now this.
I'm gonna need a minute. https://t.co/yXQyCW0OL5

As far as Bears running back Tarik Cohen is concerned, this is Trubisky’s job to lose.
Someone on Tarik Cohen's Twitch said that Mitch Trubisky is out of there after the Bears traded for Nick Foles and Tarik responded by saying "Mitch ain't going nowhere."

But, believe it or not, there are some that are happy with the addition of Foles.
Glad,
Type of guys you want to have in your locker room
If his role is backup he will do a great job of elevating Mitch
Was coached by Nagy in KC so will come in and understand the system quickly

Nick Foles is a good veteran backup with knowledge of the system. He can help push Mitch to be a better QB or can step in as a reliable replacement if Trubisky has another bad season. Not a bad move imo #Bears

Then there are some that are more realistic, given Chicago’s ugly history of quarterbacks.
I hope I'm wrong.
I hope Nick Foles is not in fact a one hit wonder & can turn the Bear's offense around.
But I'm not wrong. I've been watching this movie on replay my whole life. This is Mike Glennon/Jay Cutler/Kordell Stewart/Brian Griese all over again.
Prove me wrong Nick
— Alex Reiter (@ghost_reiter) March 18, 2020
Yes, prove us all wrong, Nick.
