After waiting hours to make their first selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears only had to wait less than 30 minutes for their next pick. With the 50th and final pick in the second round, the Bears selected cornerback Jaylon Johnson out of Utah.

Johnson immediately fills a void at the cornerback position, left by the release of veteran Prince Amukamara in February. He’s an athletic playmaker in the secondary, but has some health concerns following offseason shoulder surgery. Johnson joins Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet as the Bears other second round selection.
Still processing the team’s selection of Kmet minutes earlier, fans and experts across Twitter had plenty of reactions to the Johnson pick and most of them were positive.
Jaylon Johnson. Sensible pick here. Solid corner. Bears will have to wait until tomorrow (unless they trade up!!) to draft guys at WR, OL and safety, if they do at all.

"You can make an argument that they got two first-round players."

Smart pick for Bears. Very good cover guy with size, speed and length. Very important need to fill. This is a position I feel the Bears had to fill

No one would have blinked if Jaylon Johnson had been picked in the 20s of the first round. Excellent value for the Bears.

Talked with @TWaddle87 about Jaylon Johnson earlier today. Needed a CB opposite Fuller. Physical, can press, strong fit for Pagano’s scheme.

I’m okay with the Jaylon Johnson pick.
Looked stiff to me so I had him ranked lower.
But most NFL anaylsts had him as a top 2nd round pick.
In a position of need too!

Utah CB Jaylon Johnson is the pick for the #Bears at 50. A bit disappointed they didn’t trade back here, but this isn’t a bad value at all.
He’s a lengthy and physical cornerback who’s going to complement Kyle Fuller very well in the starting lineup.

Barring an unexpected trade, the Bears are finished selecting for the night and will resume on Saturday as they’re next scheduled pick is in the fifth round, No. 163 overall.
