Tennessee (42-20, 16-14 SEC) defeated Southern Miss (45-19, 22-8 Sun Belt), 8-4, Sunday in Game 2 of the NCAA Tournament Hattiesburg Super Regional.
The contest was the second game of a best-of-three series at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The winner advances to the College World Series.
Southern Miss defeated the Vols in the series opener, 5-3. The series finale will take place on Monday.
Tennessee is making its third consecutive super regional appearance and fourth straight NCAA Tournament under head coach Tony Vitello. Tennessee advanced to the 2021 College World Series.
