Tua Tagovailoa named Polynesian College Football Co-player of the Year

Penei Sewell and Tua Tagovailoa have been selected as co-recipients of the 2019 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.

On Tuesday, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced that University of Oregon Offensive Lineman Penei Sewell and University of Alabama Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa have been selected as co-recipients of the 2019 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.

This award, which is awarded annually to the most outstanding Polynesian college football player that epitomizes great ability and integrity, was won by Tua Tagovailoa last season.

This is the first year that two players have won the award.

The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Chairman Jesse Sapolu commented that “They (Sewell and Tagovailoa) are both tremendous role models and a source of great pride for Polynesians everywhere.”

The formal presentation of the Award will be held during the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner on January 17, 2020, and both players will be recognized during the Polynesian Bowl on January 18, 2020.
