Social media, especially in the sports landscape, can be a tough place to navigate with a lot of negativity and hate thrown by those who hide behind the shroud of anonymity.
Within the Miami Dolphins fan base, social media has been lit by arguments surrounding quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s abilities. This led to the creation of the faction known as “TuAnon” – a clever pun from the conspiracy group “QAnon.”
The Twitter account named “We Are TuAnon” began going viral for defending the Dolphins’ signal caller. Often, they would put out videos featuring a fan wearing a Dolphins head mask and using a voice modulator to speak on Tagovailoa and the “disrespect” he received from the media and the fan base.
Unfortunately, Eric Carmona was never known to be the man behind the mask until the day after his passing on June 1 at just 30 years old. “We Are TuAnon” posted the news, and the outpouring of support from the fan base was massive.

The GoFundMe for Carmona’s family, in less than a week, has raised over $61,000. That includes a donation from Tagovailoa himself, who sent $10,000 to the family.
Tagovailoa received so much support from Carmona and “TuAnon” over the years, so it’s fitting that the former first-round pick was able to show support to Carmona’s family in their time of need.
The GoFundMe also received donations from Tyreek Hill’s SoulRunner Speed Academy, former NFL defensive end Chris Long, Andrew Van Ginkel’s wife (Samantha) and NFL Network’s Peter Schrager.
