Trubisky or Foles – Who should be the Bears’ starting QB in Week 12?

Matt Nagy has yet to name a starting QB vs. the Packers. Assuming Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles are healthy, who gets the nod?

When the Chicago Bears named Mitchell Trubisky the starter for their Week 1 game back in September, we knew this quarterback competition was far from over. Even after Nick Foles took over for a benched Trubisky, there was always a belief we could see a return to Trubisky, whether due to injury or performance.

And here we are, yet again, as the Bears prepare to face their rivals the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, and Chicago hasn’t named its starting quarterback for Week 12.

Both Trubisky and Foles’ statuses remain in question, which is what head coach Matt Nagy told the media on Monday. Although, it sounds like Trubisky is the healthier of the two, as he was in attendance for Monday’s light practice. That certainly appears to be a good indicator that Trubisky will likely be the starter on Sunday night.

But let’s take the injuries off the table for a moment. Assuming both Trubisky and Foles are good to go, who should Nagy name the starter?

Should he keep with Foles, who has struggled in his seven starts behind a shaky offensive line? Or should he go back to Trubisky, who wasn’t at his best but ran the offense more effectively?

The answer appears to be the latter, not that Trubisky or Foles are the answer. But, as Nagy said following last Monday night’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, everything is on the table when you’ve lost four straight games.

While Trubisky has made some of the same mistakes that have plagued him throughout his career, the offense was more productive with him under center. Which had a lot to do with how the offense was run differently. Trubisky was under center a lot more, and play-action certainly helped get this offense into a slight rhythm. Heck, even the offensive line and the run game was encouraging in those first two games.

So why not go back?

There’s no more room for ego. There’s no more four-game cushion to lean on in the offense’s struggles. This team is .500 and in desperate need of a spark on offense.

Much like Foles provided a spark in the second half of Chicago’s Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons, perhaps Trubisky can do the same in this final stretch of the regular season where, yes, even a playoff berth is still mathematically possible.

What say you, Bears fans? Who should get the start at quarterback between Trubisky and Foles, assuming both are healthy?
