Trio of Boston Celtics alumni score in France’s 96-90 loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina in FIBA qualifier play

Evan Fournier, Guerschon Yabusele and Vincent Poirier were on the board in the loss.

Several Boston Celtics alumni scored during the French National Team’s 96-90 loss to the national team of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday.

Former Celtics shooting guard Evan Fournier led France with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. A pair of former Boston big men also managed solid outings in the FIBA World Cup group stage qualifying loss.

Big man Guerschon Yabusele had an outstanding 16 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks and a steal. Ex-Celtics center Vincent Poirier chipped in 4 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and as many steals in the losing effort.

Fournier in particular had a rough night in terms of efficiency. He shot just 7-of-19 from the field overall, but made up for it beyond the arc, connecting on 46.3% of his shots from deep.

His six turnovers and four personal fouls did not help France’s cause, but expect the 2020 Olympic silver medalists to bounce back.
