Don’t call it a comeback.
Former Michigan Wolverine-turned-NBA journeyman, point guard Trey Burke, had a redux stint with the Dallas Mavericks and in the NBA playoff bubble, he made himself a frequent star of the show. Re-teamed with fellow alum Tim Hardaway Jr., Burke had himself a starring role coming off the bench, after he seemed destined to fall out of the league.
But now, he’s found a new home — or, rather, he’s staying put, as Dallas inked Burke to a three-year deal at the outset of NBA free agency. Thus, his second-stint in Dallas appears to be destined for a longer tenure, if everything goes to plan.

Burke’s previous stint in Dallas lasted not even a whole season, as he was a Maverick for 25 games in 2018-19 before heading for Toronto — a team he also played twice for.
The second time around on Mark Cuban’s team, Burke played in just eight games. He spent his first three seasons in Utah before joining the Wizards, then the Knicks, Toronto, New York again, Dallas, Toronto again, Philadelphia, then his current go-round in Texas.
