The Kentucky Wildcats football team has produced its share of NFL talent in recent years. Quarterback Will Levis, pass rusher Josh Allen and linebacker Jamin Davis were all recent high profile players taken in the NFL Draft out of Kentucky. Six Wildcats are at this weekend’s NFL Combine, and will look to be drafted.
The 2024 NFL Draft will likely have a few Wildcats players taken in it. The question is whether or not any will be picked in the early rounds. Linebacker Trevin Wallace might be their best bet.
Wallace had a successful 2023 season, totaling 80 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 8.5 tackles for a loss. He flashed NFL-type talent on the field, and got himself invited to the NFL Combine.
On Thursday, Wallace joined the rest of the linebacker prospects in Indianapolis and had a very nice day. He ran a very fast 40-yard dash, clocking in at 4.51 seconds, which was third among off-ball linebackers. He also posted a 37.5 inch vertical leap and 10’7″ broad jump. Both of those numbers were second among linebackers. He also looked very good in the on-field drills.
Time will tell whether his Combine performance will move him up draft boards or not. A lot of other factors play into it, and there’s a lot of time between now and the draft. However, Wallace certainly stated his case on Thursday.
