Tress Way named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for game vs. 49ers

Washington punter Tress Way was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this year after game vs. 49ers.

For the second time this season, Washington’s Pro-Bowl punter Tress Way is earning national honors for his performance on a Sunday, grabbing the title of NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

In Washington’s 23-15 win over the 49ers, Way was incredibly busy thanks to an offense that proved unable to move the ball very well. He punted a total of 8 times in the game, with an average of 49.8 yards and a long of 58 yards. One of his punts was downed inside the 20-yard line.

Way earned some credit from head coach Ron Rivera after the game for how well he was able to constantly flip the field for the defense, and he once again proved to be one of the more valuable players on Washington’s roster.
