Yesterday the Washington Post published a story with former Super Bowl winning quarterback Trent Dilfer that unveiled the secret workouts former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had with him in Nashville.

These secret draft workouts took place in early January at Lipscomb University’s football facility after Tua’s father, Galu Tagovailoa, reached out to Dilfer.

Dilfer, who had initially declined the request, ended up being thoroughly impressed by Tagovailoa’s health and talent and had nothing but extremely high praise for the NFL hopeful.

The workouts were to be kept secret, per Dilfer’s request.

His assessment on Tagovailoa’s health completely dispute recent reports that he has failed multiple NFL teams’ physicals.

“Tua’s 100 percent. He can play in a game tomorrow and be completely safe,” Dilfer says.

The Washington Post obtained quotes from a person who knew about the workouts, but was not allowed to public discuss them.

“If you put a GPS on Tua, you would see it was straight from his apartment to Trent’s office to the weight room,” says the anonymous source.

Dilfer claims the workouts he put Tagovailoa through were not easy. In fact, he said “He went through torture.”

“If he would have never gotten hurt there would have been no discussion about who the best player in the draft is,” Dilfer tells the Washington Post. “He throws the football better than anyone throws the football. He throws better than Aaron Rodgers and Dan Marino. Whoever gets him wins the draft because you are getting a Hall of Fame player.”

The praise did not end there as Dilfer went on to talk about Tagovailoa’s place in the 2020 Draft class, which is littered with talented quarterbacks.

“There are some really, really good quarterbacks in this draft, but the best one is Tua,” Dilfer says.

There’s still minimal information about what transpired in Nashville between tagovailoa and Dilfer, but it’s clear that the former elite NFL quarterback had seen all he needed to.

Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on Tagovailoa’s journey through the 2020 NFL Draft and his path to begin his professional football career.
