Touchdown Wire 3-round mock draft: See who Raiders grab in Round 1

Could the Raiders target Georgia DT Jordan Davis in the 2022 draft?

The Raiders will enter the 2022 offseason with a ton of needs to fill. They need to upgrade their receiving corps, the offensive line and their linebackers once again.

But one need that hasn’t been discussed enough is their interior defensive line. They just don’t have many long-term solutions at the position and opponents are starting to gash them in the run game.

That is why they could certainly be in the market for a defensive tackle early in the 2022 draft.

In a recent mock draft by Luke Easterling of the Touchdown Wire, he has the Raiders selecting Georgia DT Jordan Davis. Here is how the 360-pound defensive tackle could fit in their defense:

“This defense needs all kinds of help, so the Raiders could go in one of many different directions here. In this scenario, the best value comes with Davis, a massive mountain of a defender who would immediately transform the interior of this front.”

The Raiders already have two dynamic edge rushers and some quality backups in Carl Nassib, Clelin Ferrell and Malcolm Koonce. But what they really need is a player inside like Davis, who can demand double-teams with his size and power.

Davis isn’t a pass rusher at all, but he is impossible to move. He’s also athletic enough to make plays outside of his gap and he is a player that makes everyone else on defense better.

Will a 360-pound defensive tackle go inside of the top-15 picks in a passing league? That remains to be seen. But Davis is a unique talent and a player the Raiders could use on their defense.
