Tory Taylor once again named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week

After delivering another outstanding performance, Iowa’s Tory Taylor has been named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week.

Pretty soon we may just need to create the Tory Taylor Award. The Iowa Hawkeyes punter has once again done it as he has all season and continues the best season yet donning the black and gold.

Tory Taylor had the best performance of his career against Wisconsin earning him recognition as the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. He wasted no time following things up against Minnesota.

Taylor’s efforts against Minnesota kept Iowa in the game the entire day and gave them chances by pinning the Gophers deep in their own territory. The performance has Tory Taylor named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week.

Against Minnesota, Taylor’s nine punts averaged 49.3 yards per punt with a booming long of 57 yards. Four of these punts were downed inside the 20-yard line.

This trend has held consistent all season for Taylor. He is putting up the best numbers yet in his four seasons with the Hawkeyes. On the year, Taylor has punted 54 times for an average of 48.5 yards, nearly two and a half yards better than his previous best. Taylor has dropped 21 of these punts inside opponents’ 20-yard lines creating incredibly long fields against one of the nation’s top defenses.
