Score one for Dan Lanning on the recruiting front in the ongoing rivalry against Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans.
On Monday night, 4-star cornerback Dakoda Fields announced that he would be flipping his commitment from USC, and committing to the Oregon Ducks instead. Fields is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 83 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 9 cornerback.
Fields committed to USC back in June, but was thought of as a potential get for the Ducks throughout his commitment. Despite his verbal to the Trojans, the Junipero Serra CB — a former teammate of Oregon’s Rodrick Pleasant — took an official to Eugene later in the summer, and ultimately ended up flipping to the Ducks.
Fields is the second CB to commit to the Ducks this cycle, joining 4-star Ify Obidegwu, who is rated as the No. 122 overall player and No. 11 CB. With those two, plus both Pleasant (No. 105 overall, No. 8 CB) and Daylen Austin (No. 134 overall, No. 11 CB) joining the class in 2023, the Ducks’ CB room looks to be stacked with talent for years to come.
