Top-10 2022 GA HS recruits: No. 10, C.J. Washington

The top-10 class of 2022 GA high school recruits in the country start off with ILB C.J. Washington, out of Cedartown, GA.

The No. 10 football recruit in the 2022 class out of the state of Georgia, according to 247Sports, is 4-star linebacker and recent UGA commit C.J. Washington.  Washington, who stands at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, is rated as the No. 5 inside linebacker in the country and committed to Georgia on Wednesday.

Washington had other notable offers from LSU, Florida and Tennessee, but ultimately chose to play for his home state.

“I chose Georgia not because of just the players and the coaches, but I chose Georgia because it has always felt like home to me,” Washington said.

C.J. is from Cedartown, GA where he attends former Georgia running back and now Cleveland Browns star Nick Chubb’s alma mater of Cedartown High School.  He also wears Chubb’s college number 27.

Washington looks up to and admires Chubb, but also wants to make a name for himself.

“It is cool to see him do what he has done, to start here at Cedartown, go to Georgia and then go to the NFL, but I am going to Georgia to start my own legacy and I want to be better than him,” he added in regards to comparisons with Chubb.

Washington is a nightmare for offensive linemen with his combination of size, speed, power and overall athleticism.  He received offers from both Tennessee and Georgia after his impressive performance at the Georgia Elite Classic this past December.
