Top Michigan football target sets decision date

This one isn’t looking too good.

This might not be good news for Michigan football fans, at all.

The Wolverines were thought some time ago to be the obvious choice for 2024 Saline (Mich.) five-star quarterback CJ Carr, considering that he’s the grandson of national championship-winning head coach Lloyd Carr. Being a legacy of a head coach who bleeds maize and blue, however, does not appear to keep the younger elite quarterback from likely ending up at a rival school.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball indicates that Carr will end up at Notre Dame, as there have been nine predictions and it 100% points to the Irish.

Fans will know soon enough, as Carr has announced he will make his college choice on Thursday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m on CBS Sports HQ.

While it would obviously be a huge blow, especially from an optics perspective, being that he’s a 2024 prospect, there’s a lot of time between now and when he’ll actually sign with his school of choice.

There have been rumblings that he and fellow elite in-state quarterback Dante Moore, who’s in the 2023 class, do not want to end up at the same institution. Moore has also been trending towards the Irish, so if Carr does end up at ND, it could help loosen the Detroit (Mich.) King five-star toward the idea of staying home.

Either way, with two elite quarterbacks in-state, Michigan has to find a way to land one or the other, if not both. At the moment, it doesn’t look likely it’ll get either.
