Top in-state recruit commits to Nebraska

For the third straight year the Huskers land the state’s top prospect.

The top recruit in the state of Nebraska for 2025 committed to the Cornhuskers on Monday night. Christian Jones is a four-star linebacker for Omaha Westside High School.

Jones becomes the 19th commitment to the class of 2025. His commitment moves Nebraska’s class to just outside the top 25 at No. 26 overall, according to 247Sports.

Last season, he had 69 tackles, 14.0 for loss, and scored two defensive touchdowns. On offense, he recorded 20 receptions for 500 yards and nine touchdowns.

Jones was recently selected as a 2025 Polynesian Bowl All-Star. Quarterback Dylan Raiola, newly converted wide receiver Carter Nelson, and offensive lineman Preston Taumua participated in the 2024 edition of the game.

The Polynesian Bowl will be held on Friday, January 17, at Kunuiakea Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kick-off will be at 6:00 p.m. CT.

His commitment marks the third straight year that the Huskers have signed the top player in the state. In 2022, the Huskers signed wide receiver Malachi Coleman, and in 2023, they signed tight end Carter Nelson.
