Tony Romo, for a brief time, was one of the best color analysts in all of sports.
I say “brief time” there because in recent years it feels like he’s just gotten away from what made him fun (predicting plays at the line) and has become an announcer who likes to get way too dramatic about every little thing or one who just makes noises while Jim Nantz calls a play.
During Sunday’s Bengals-Bills game AFC divisional round game in snowy Buffalo, Romo annoyed everyone in the third quarter when he referred to the play clock as the “shot clock,” which isn’t a thing in football.
This isn’t a big deal at all in the grand scheme of things but it is another example of Romo becoming a shell of his former announcer self while making fans wonder what the heck he’s even talking about. That’s not a good spot to be in when you’re calling the biggest games each week.
