Michigan State basketball’s trip to Northern Michigan next week got a little bit bigger on Friday night.
During the Spartans’ annual midnight madness event, it was announced that Tom Izzo will have his No. 10 jersey retired at Northern Michigan. Izzo played for the Wildcats in college, and his relationship with Northern Michigan is why the Spartans will play an exhibition game there next week.
Izzo’s childhood best friend and former NFL head coach Steve Mariucci made the announcement in a video shown at the Breslin Center during the midnight madness. Check out the video below:

Michigan State basketball’s exhibition against Northern Michigan will take place on October 13. The game will tip off at 1 p.m. ET. There is no known television or streaming viewing option at this time.
