Michigan State basketball should be getting back one of its reserve guards in the next week.

Spartans head coach Tom Izzo met with the media on Friday, and provided an injury update on guard Gehrig Normand. Izzo said that Normand returned to practice on Friday and is about a week away from being “game-ready.”

Normand suffered a knee injury during preseason practices in early October and has been sidelined since then.

Normand redshirted for the Spartans last year and is expected to come off the bench this year in a reserve role.

Normand was a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He is originally from North Richland Hills, Texas and ranked as the No. 124 overall prospect in the 2023 class.

Michigan State opens the 2024-25 season on Monday in a home non-conference game against Monmouth. Tipoff from the Breslin Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
