In his radio show Wednesday, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said that he has talked to shooting guard Joshua Langford recently and Langford told him that he is hoping to play for Michigan State next season if his left foot permits him to.
“If he’s healthy, his hope is to play,” Izzo said. “It’d be nice for him. To what level he’d play, I don’t know. But I tell you what, last fall, he was damn good. I lost my second best player, there’s no question.”
Langford was one of the best players on the team before his injury and seemed destined to make his way to the NBA, in some capacity. There was some speculation that if Langford was healthy that he would try to make his way through the G League, so this is certainly a nice surprise for Spartan fans that have been yearning to see Langford suit up in Green and White again.
“It’s just a such an unknown with him,” Izzo said. “I’m trying not to get overexcited, but I am excited that he’s really — he deserves to have something good happen to him. After what happened last year, it’s just so hard to get excited about it. But he seems to be ahead of where he was, No. 1. No 2, he’s doing really well mentally. He had a tough year, man.”
