Tom Izzo doesn’t expect to have face-to-face practices until the end of July

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo says that he doesn’t expect to have face-to-face practices until the end of July.

While we have seen the slow re-opening of businesses around the country after the social distancing quarantine was used as a way to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, it looks like it could still be over a month before we see Michigan State Men’s Basketball players resume in-person practices. Tom Izzo was on the Huge Show on CBS Sports Radio recently and said that he doesn’t anticipate that he will be doing any face-to-face practices before the end of July.

Personally, I think it is better to use some caution, particularly with college athletes where this is not a job, these are still students and we should ensure their safety.

While Izzo isn’t expecting the team to engage in any in-person practices, Izzo did say that players will be able to start working out with strength coaches in two weeks.
