As the Tokyo Olympics begin this month, Rookie Wire took a look at some of the biggest rule differences between the NBA and FIBA.

On July 25, preliminary play in basketball will begin at the Tokyo Olympics with 12 countries divided into three groups. The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-place teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.

The competition in the Olympic Games will be a bit different than a normal game in the NBA. The rules set forth by FIBA are followed during international play, an they vary from those traditional rules used in the NBA.

With exhibition games taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, some have already noticed the differences between the NBA and FIBA. Players on USA Basketball appear to be having some difficulty adjusting to the rule changes and officiating in international play.
