There really was not a lot for the Philadelphia 76ers to be happy with in their Round 1 playoff sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics, but their younger players were able to get a lot of good playoff experience.
One of them was rookie Matisse Thybulle who was able to get some valuable experience in defending star players such as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kemba Walker in a high-pressure situation.
Thybulle was able to earn himself a start in the series in Game 2 after having success against Tatum in Game 1 holding him to four points on 2-for-9 shooting. His ability to disrupt Boston a bit was impressive for a guy so young and in his playoff debut.
“For Matisse’s first playoff series, I thought he did a really good job of coming in kind of disrupting Boston’s game plan and defending these prime time players like Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker,” said veteran Tobias Harris. “He’s a player that’s going to have a role on an any NBA team and a role for a long time in this league because of his ability to defend and ability to be selfless on the offensive end and just do what’s asked.”
For a guy like Thybulle, this experience in the playoffs is going to be able to help him continue down a path of success in the NBA. His work ethic is going to be huge for him and it is something that will aid him in the offseason. He will have to continue to add to his offensive game to truly move forward in the league.
However, his defense is what has really stood out for his future.
