The play-in tournament gets set to begin on Tuesday as the final two playoff spots in both the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference will be determined. There is a bit of a college feel to these games due to the nature of how the games will be played. They will be single elimination games.
The Philadelphia 76ers are the No. 1 seed in the East so they will have their playoff opponent be known as soon as the East play-in is wrapped up on Thursday. They will face one of the Boston Celtics, the Washington Wizards, the Charlotte Hornets, and the Indiana Pacers.
Considering the compact schedule of the 2020-21 season, Tobias Harris is happy that the Sixers are not playing in the play-in tournament and being able to rest.
“I’m a fan, because we aren’t in it,” Harris said with a laugh. “You feel me? I’m a fan because we aren’t in it. To able to, in this type of season, this amount of days and be able to rest, put work in, but I think it brings excitement to the league and to the fans.”

The play-in tournament promises to be something special as all four teams in each conference will be battling it out to make the postseason. Even out West, the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers are in the tournament going up against the Golden State Warriors. That is another chapter in the LeBron James vs. Stephen Curry rivalry.
“I think this play-in tournament is really good competition,” Harris added. “If you look at the West Coast and who’s in it, there’s gonna be some good basketball being played, but if we were in it, I don’t know. I’ll give you a different answer there.”
The Sixers will begin their playoff journey on Sunday from the Wells Fargo Center.
