The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) are in search of their first win still and will look to get it from their division rivals in the Tennessee Titans (2-2). They will have to do it after a rather interesting week where coach Urban Meyer was in the national and local headlines for the wrong reasons, and the team is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Cincinnati.
However, the Titans will be also looking to get back on track after a Week 4 loss, too. They were upset by the New York Jets in an overtime battle that ended with a score of 27-24, giving Gang Green their first win of 2021.
A big reason for Tennessee’s struggles was the injuries they went into the game with as they were without starting receivers, Julio Jones and A.J. Brown. Both once again surfaced on the injury report this week, but the latter will play, which puts them in better shape than last week. Still, it’s a situation the Jags would gladly take instead of having to deal with both.
Another injury situation worth watching for the Titans will be at left tackle. Both starter Taylor Lewan (toe) and backup Ty Sambrailo (foot) surfaced on the injury report as questionable. However, the former was a full participant in practice Friday, which could be a good thing for his chances to play, while the latter was limited.
The other issue the Titans have that the Jags may be able to take advantage of is their struggling passing defense. The unit will enter the game 23rd after allowing rookie Zach Wilson to go 21-of-34 against them and throw for 297 yards and two touchdowns. That’s probably music to Trevor Lawrence’s ears as the rookie will be coming off his best game as a pro against the Bengals. Simply put, if he can continue his success, the Jags have a chance and could avoid hitting the 20 consecutive loss mark.
