Titans show D.K. Metcalf love after competing in Olympic Trial

Titans players gave Metcalf props for his competitive showing at the event.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf tried his hand at making it to the Tokyo Olympics this year after competing in the 100m dash at the USA Track and Field Golden Games and Distance Open on Sunday.

Unfortunately, Metcalf did not qualify with a time of 10.37 seconds, instead finishing last in his heat and 15th out of 17 competitors.

Still, it was impressive to see Metcalf and his 6-foot-4, 235-pound frame, which easily stood out among the other contestants, compete and actually hang in there with some of the best in the world until late in the race

Even though he didn’t accomplish his goal of qualifying, NFL players from around the league still showed Metcalf love for giving it a shot, including current and former Tennessee Titans players.

After the heat was over, Metcalf was just happy to be taking part in the event and gave props to the runners he competed against, saying that their speed is “very different from football speed.”

“I’m just happy to be here, excited to have the opportunity, thank God for the opportunity to run against world-class athletes like this,” Metcalf said, per NBC Sports. “Just to test my speed against world-class athletes like this.

“They do this for a living. This is very different from football speed.”
