Even though the 2020 NFL Draft is a little over two months behind us, it’s never too early to start looking ahead to what the Tennessee Titans might do in the 2021 NFL Draft.
And that’s exactly what 247 Sports’ Joal Ryan did with his NFL mock draft.
For the Titans, Ryan has them picking at No. 15 in next year’s draft and taking Missouri inside linebacker, Nicholas Bolton.
The Titans, who addressed their offensive line with their first-round pick in 2020, shift to defense, and snap up Nicholas Bolton, who needs some work, per CBS Sports, but always makes a big impact.
After a quiet freshman campaign for the Tigers, Bolton exploded in 2019, finishing with 103 tackles (8.5 for loss), one sack, two interceptions, and seven passes defended.
This is no knock on the talented but undersized Bolton (5-foot-11, 228 pounds), but the chances are slim and none that the Titans will go with an inside linebacker in the first round next year.
The only way that will happen is if the team doesn’t bring back Jayon Brown, who is in the last year of his rookie deal and is set to hit the open market in 2021. I fully expect general manager Jon Robinson to lock him up long before that happens.
With Brown and 2018 first-round pick Rashaan Evans, who will have two more years on his rookie deal after the 2020 campaign if you include the fifth-year option, Tennessee looks to be set at the position for years to come.
Even behind those two, the Titans have an impressive player in 2019 sixth-round pick, David Long. The West Virginia product proved to be a valuable asset in limited duty last season and plays like his hair is on fire.
Robinson will be much more focused on adding to positions that are likely to be of bigger need, like wide receiver, cornerback and EDGE, among some others.
