The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to hold the sixth interview of their head coach search with Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown.
According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Titans will meet with Brown on Thursday. Once completed, the Titans will have spoken to a total of six of the 10 head coach candidates they’ve requested to interview.
Brown was the Panthers’ offensive coordinator for one season but didn’t call the plays the entire campaign. He took over play-calling duties from Frank Reich for three games before the former Panthers head coach took them back. Brown finished out the season as play-caller after Reich was fired.
Carolina sported the worst scoring and passing offense in the NFL, but the Panthers also lacked talent on an offense run by No. 1 overall pick and quarterback Bryce Young, who also had his fair share of issues.
What is attractive about Brown’s resume is that he’s from the Sean McVay coaching tree after serving as running backs coach, tight ends coach and assistant head coach over his three years with the Los Angeles Rams.
Along with Brown, the Titans have also spoken to Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce and Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.
Of those six, only Callahan has been contacted for a second interview thus far, making him an early finalist for Tennessee’s vacancy.
The four candidates who have been requested but not interviewed yet are Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.
