As if things couldn’t get worse for the Tennessee Titans during their Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the team lost its starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, to an ankle injury.
Tannehill had his ankle rolled up on in the third quarter, and after trying to tough it out, the veteran signal-caller was removed from the game.
“It freakin’ sucks,” Tannehill said, per Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com. “It’s part of the game, getting injured. We’ll see what it is going to look like with the MRI moving forward. But it’s frustrating.”
Before exiting, Tannehill threw a costly interception in the third quarter on an underthrown ball with the Titans driving to take the lead. He revealed the injury definitely hampered his ability to throw it deep.
“I couldn’t put any force into the throws,” Tannehill admitted, according to ESPN’s Turron Davenport. “I kept walking it off, but it was getting worse and worse. I figured if I’m going to be a sitting duck back there and can’t step into a throw, I wouldn’t be effective.”
“I think it was hard for him to be able to execute the stuff from what I was seeing,” head coach Mike Vrabel said. “We talked about doing some different things or what his mobility would look like. We certainly don’t want to put him in harm’s way and not able to protect himself.”
The Titans quarterback didn’t sound like he thinks this injury will be nothing.
“It’s not an enjoyable process,” Tannehill said. “Especially when you know it’s got some significance to it. But we’ll see what it’s going to look like and get a plan moving forward.”
Tannehill was replaced by backup quarterback Malik Willis, but the Liberty product didn’t do anything with the opportunity and showed much of the same issues he’s had since entering the league.

That has rightly left many to wonder if the Titans should give 2023 second-round pick Will Levis a look at the position if Tannehill can’t go in Week 8.
In fact, some fans are just ready to make the switch, no matter Tannehill’s status.
