The three biggest areas of need for the Tennessee Titans going into the 2023 NFL draft are along the offensive line and at quarterback and wide receiver — and it just so happens that general manager Ran Carthon is a fan of the depth at each of those positions going into this year’s event.
During his pre-draft press conference on Monday, Carthon listed all three of those areas as strengths in the upcoming draft. He went into a bit more detail about his views on the wide receiver position, also.
“There’s value everywhere in this draft,” Carthon said. “You look at it now in college football, there’s a lot of talented receivers because it’s a passing game… and so most teams play with four or five receivers at a time, so there’s value from the top all the way down.”

Assuming this isn’t a smokescreen from Carthon, the Titans will likely feel very comfortable with trading back from No. 11 overall if they can’t land their quarterback in that spot or trade up for one, or if there’s no wide receiver or offensive lineman worth taking in that spot.
With a trade back, Tennessee can acquire another selection and still land an impact wideout and offensive lineman with their first two picks (the Titans’ second-round pick is at No. 41 overall).
It also opens the door for Tennessee to consider a player at a position that isn’t one of the team’s biggest needs if said player slips to No. 11 and is simply too good to pass up on.
