Titans place Adoree’ Jackson on IR, promote 3 from practice squad

The Titans will lose their No. 1 corner for at least the first three weeks.

Tennessee Titans cornerback Adoree’ Jackson has been placed on IR, the team announced on Monday. Taking his place on the active roster will be cornerback Tye Smith, who was on the team’s practice squad.

In other moves, the Titans promoted running Jeremy McNichols and wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine from the practice squad for the Week 1 contest against the Denver Broncos.

Teams are allowed to promote two players from the practice squad to the active roster before each game in 2020. Both players will return to the practice squad following the contest.

Thanks to new IR rules, Jackson can return after three weeks, as opposed to the eight-week minimum players on IR are usually force to sit out. Regardless, losing Jackson is a huge blow to the Titans’ defense.
