While we expected the Tennessee Titans to be favored over the Detroit Lions ahead of their Week 15 contest at Nissan Stadium, we didn’t expect the line to be double digits.
But that’s exactly where things are currently, according to BetMGM, as the Titans are massive 10.5-point favorites over the Lions.
Spread: Titans -10.5
Money Line: -600/+450
Over/Under: 51.5
The reason behind such a big line has to do with the status of Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is reportedly “in doubt” for this contest because of a painful rib injury.
Stafford is also listed with a right thumb injury on Wednesday’s practice report and did not participate in the first session of the week. If he can’t go, the Lions will deploy Chase Daniel in his place, which would be a major downgrade for the team’s offense.
Stafford was forced to leave the Week 14 game against the Green Bay Packers early but isn’t counting himself out for this week’s game against the Titans, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
“I think I just need to be able to function,” Stafford said. “I need to be able to play and play at a high level, so it’s going to take some time, I’m going to have to rest but I’m not counting myself out and just try to see how it progresses throughout the week.”
Stafford is as tough as they come, so if anyone can play through what he’s dealing with, it’s the Lions signal-caller.
Should Stafford end up suiting up, the line will no doubt shrink. We’ll have to keep an eye on his practice participation as the week progresses.
