Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is widely considered one of the better one in the NFL after five seasons with the team, but where exactly does he stack up against the rest of the league’s head coaches?

According to Ross Tucker of The 33rd Team, Vrabel is the 13th-best head coach in the NFL, and the second best in the division behind Jacksonville Jaguars head coach, Doug Pederson.

Here’s Tucker’s thoughts on Vrabel:

Analysis: Last year was the first losing season for my former teammate. Although, he still almost got the Tennessee Titans into the postseason by starting Josh Dobbs like a week after they signed him, which speaks to some of the injury and personnel decisions (see: trading A.J. Brown) recently in Tennessee.

Vrabel should be at least one spot higher on this list. I’d put New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll behind him. Daboll is a very good head coach but his one-year track record isn’t enough for me to place him in front.

As far as the other head coaches ahead of Vrabel are concerned, each has either a Super Bowl ring or appearance to their name, something Vrabel doesn’t.

Aside from 2022, the Titans have been a perennial winner under Vrabel, who has a knack for leading the team to victories in games nobody expects them to win.

He earned the AP Coach of the Year award in 2021 after leading an injury-plagued team to the No. 1 seed in the conference. The Titans also won back-to-back division crowns under Vrabel, and he led them to an AFC title game during the 2019 campaign.

Vrabel rightly survived the ousting of former general manager Jon Robinson, who was the biggest impediment to the Titans’ success in 2022. It was very clear Vrabel is better at his job than Robinson was at his.

Now, general manager Ran Carthon will look to build a team Vrabel can win a Super Bowl with, which would no doubt help the Titans head coach’s standing on this list.
