Titans honor Taylor Lewan with tribute video after release

The Titans released a tribute video to honor Taylor Lewan after his release.

We may have seen the end of an era on Wednesday when the Tennessee Titans released 2014 first-round pick and left tackle, Taylor Lewan.

We say “may have seen the end of an era” because the Titans apparently haven’t closed the door on Lewan’s return, according to beat writer Paul Kuharsky.

However, Lewan didn’t exactly sound like a guy who may return to Nashville in his tweet after the news broke.

“Thank you to every single Titan fan,” Lewan tweeted. “Whether you loved me or hated me all I’ve ever wanted was to make this city proud and help bring back a franchise.

“Thank you so much.”

Then, the Titans released this tribute video for Lewan, which makes things seem even more final.

Lewan also put out this video:

A few things would have to happen for Lewan’s return.

The Titans would have to strike out at left tackle in free agency and the draft, but on top of that, Lewan would have to actually want to play again, and then take a pay cut. I tend to believe he’s going to retire.

If this is indeed the end of Lewan’s time in Nashville, he deserves credit for his tenure.

After all, Lewan was the tip of the spear when the Titans were clawing their way out of the dark ages and he helped give this franchise some personality. Granted, things didn’t end great, but that certainly doesn’t erase his overall contributions over nine seasons.
