Titans great Brett Kern is loving this Ryan Stonehouse punt

Titans great Brett Kern was loving Ryan Stonehouse’s punt in the second quarter against the Chiefs.

Tennessee Titans punter Ryan Stonehouse has been a weapon in and of himself during his rookie campaign, something he showed once again during the Week 9 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

After a failed drive in the second quarter, Stonehouse came on to punt from the Titans’ 40-yard line and promptly booted the ball 57 yards, three yards higher than his league-best 54.0 average.

We know Stonehouse has a big leg, but this punt was particularly impressive because Stonehouse dropped it on the one and gave Tennessee’s punt unit time to down it at the one-yard line.

After the play, Titans great Brett Kern, who was beat out by Stonehouse for the starting job in training camp, gave his full approval of the play.

Before final cuts went down, Kern knew what he was up against, and now we’re all seeing it first hand.

“I knew it was different when I first saw [Stonehouse] punt a ball,” Kern said back in August. “I knew that [the competition] was going to be a grind. I told him, I’ve been in the league a long time and I’ve seen about three or four people in my entire life hit a ball like he does.”
