The Tennessee Titans recently listed their game-by-game starters from the 2022 campaign, and it shows just how much the team’s units were in flux during the course of the season.
Before we get started, it’s important to note that a player on either side of the ball is considered a starter in a game when on the field for the first play.
On defense, rookie cornerback Roger McCreary and veteran safety Kevin Byard were the only players to start every contest. On offense, left guard Aaron Brewer was the only player to start every game, with two of them coming at center in place of an injured Ben Jones.
Rookie right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere and running back Derrick Henry came close, starting in 16 of 17 games.
Regardless of the definition, Tennessee’s group of starters on both sides of the ball was constantly changing the entire season.
The Titans were the most injured team in the NFL in 2022, leading to their placing a league-high 34 players on IR and fielding 86 players, which comes one season after they set the NFL record with 91.
On top of the specific positions they have to address on offense and defense, a point of emphasis for the Titans going into 2023 will be actually keeping guys healthy throughout the course of an entire season.
Sounds simple enough, but not for this franchise, which has dealt with the most injury issues in the league for two years now.
