The Tennessee Titans will add yet another new face to their receiving corps. in Week 2, as the team is reportedly set to elevate wideout Josh Gordon from the practice squad for Monday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
The news comes from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, via Gordon’s agent, Zac Hiller.
“Josh [Gordon] just needs opportunities to prove that he’s still the incredible player and talent he’s always been,” Hiller said told Pelissero.
While hope remains that Gordon can return to some semblance of the form he showed earlier in his career, he’s been unable to do that since 2013, while also running into a slew of off-the-field issues.
However, if there’s any team that could give him more opportunities and allow him to flourish, it’s the Titans, who have a wide-open situation at receiver right now.
On the down side, we hope Gordon’s elevation doesn’t mean rookie wide receiver Kyle Philips won’t go.
Philips, who is dealing with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable, led the Titans in receptions, targets and receiving yards in Week 1.
We’ll know more when inactives are released an hour and a half prior to kickoff. Tennessee and Buffalo will then meet on the field at 6:15 p.m. CDT on “Monday Night Football”.
