The North Carolina Tar Heels earned the No. 1 seed in the West Region for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. After winning the ACC regular season, the Tar Heels made a run to the conference tournament final before being upset by NC State.
But it was still a good enough resume to get them that No. 1 seed. They will open their tournament on Thursday.
The Tar Heels will play the winner of Tuesday’s First Four game between Wagner and Howard.
On Thursday, North Carolina will tip off against the winner of that game at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday in Charlotte. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

The broadcast team of Brian Anderson, Jim Jackson and Allie LaForce will be on the call.
While a 16 over 1 upset is rare, it has happened twice since 2018. Virginia lost in 2018 and Purdue lost last year. North Carolina will need to bring its game and avoid letting a 16 hang around too long.
