According to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. is going to miss time with the knee injury he suffered against the Houston Texans. This means it is time to see what the Steelers have in rookie Broderick Jones.
Jones came in for Moore early in Sunday’s blowout loss. He ended up playing 51 total snaps, had no penalties and didn’t allow a sack. As a full unit, the Steelers line was dreadful but while Jones didn’t play poorly and showed some potential.
The Steelers traded up in the first round of the 2023 draft to select the former Georgia star. With Moore being out multiple weeks, Jones has a perfect opportunity to establish himself as the future of the left tackle position in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh will also be without starting tight end Pat Freiermuth for an extended period of time with a hamstring injury. This means the left side of the offensive line would be Jones with former teammate Darnell Washington. These two were drafted because they dominated the line of scrimmage in the run game but we will see if they can do it in the NFL.
