With only two weeks before the SEC Tournament, LSU entered this weekend’s final homestand looking to increase its ranking for both that and the NCAA Tournament, as well. The Tigers had hopes of hosting a regional this season, but after this weekend, that opportunity may have flown out the window.
LSU dropped Game 3 in 7-4 fashion, getting swept 3-0 for the series by Ole Miss. The Rebels came into the series 28-19 and 10-14 in conference play. They were four games behind LSU which had a conference record of 14-10. After this weekend, the Tigers are only one game ahead of the Rebels with one SEC series to go.
[autotag]Samuel Dutton[/autotag] got the start on the mound, and Ole Miss got the scoring started early as it notched three runs in the first three innings before [autotag]Josh Pearson[/autotag] hit a two-run blast to cut the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the fourth, [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag] hit a solo homer of his own to tie the game at 3-3.

In the top of the fifth inning, Ole Miss broke the game wide open with a four-run inning. [autotag]Eric Reyzelman[/autotag] came into pitch for the Tigers, and the Rebels hit a pair of two-run homers off of him before finally getting out of the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, Pearson hit an RBI double to left-center field to score [autotag]Collier Cranford[/autotag] and make it a 7-4 game. In the top of the eighth inning, the Rebels loaded the bases before LSU walked home a run to increase the Mississippi lead to 8-4. In the bottom of the eighth, [autotag]Tyler McManus[/autotag] hit a solo homer to cut the lead to 8-5, but that is all the Tigers could manage.
