Tigers of the Game: Williams, Broome make ‘splash’ in win over South Carolina

The “Splash Bros” lived up to their nickname on Wednesday by scoring 44 combined points in Auburn’s 40-point win over South Carolina.

After sustaining a 16-point loss to Florida last Saturday, the No. 12 Auburn Tigers needed a dominating win to hop back into the SEC championship race. The Tigers got just that on Wednesday by smashing No. 11 South Carolina, 101-61.

The win over the Gamecocks marks the third time this season that Auburn has reached the century mark in points, the first time in SEC play. The strong performance was due in part to the efforts of Jaylin Williams and Johni Broome.

The duo combined to connect on 16-of-26 shots from the field and 9-of-12 from the three-point line to score 44 combined points. To boot, Broome and Williams also revealed a new nickname, “Splash Bros” to the Auburn fan base following the game.

Broome and Williams made an impact in the win, but who else made a difference? Here’s a look at which players stood out to Auburn Wire writers, as well as Auburn fans. Here are the “Tigers of the Game” from Auburn’s win over South Carolina.
