Tigers of the Game: The efforts of Broome and Green lead Auburn to first SEC win

The second-half efforts of Johni Broome and Wendell Green Jr. led Auburn to its first SEC win of the season on Wednesday.

It was not an aesthetically pleasing win, but the No. 23 Auburn Tigers got the job done on Wednesday night.

Auburn’s [autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag] succeeded on a layup opportunity with 1:14 remaining in regulation to give the Tigers the 59-58 lead. [autotag]Wendell Green Jr.[/autotag] then followed suit by scoring on a breakaway layup to solidify the 61-58 win over Florida at Neville Arena.

Auburn saw its offensive production rise in the second half, as the Tigers improved its shooting from 28.6% to 48.1% in the final 20 minutes. Broome, Green, and Jaylin Williams each turned their game up in the second half, as each scored at least ten points to close the game.

The efforts of Green and Broome were instrumental in Auburn pulling out a late win over Florida, which makes way for them to add to their “Tigers of the Game” vote total.

Here is a look at who writers Taylor JonesJ.D. McCarthy, and River Wells voted for as their “Tigers of the Game” following Auburn’s win over Florida.
