Tigers land in top four for 2023 five-star point guard from North Carolina

Auburn was listed in 2023 five-star Robert Dillingham’s top four on Monday.

On Monday, 2023 five-star point guard Robert Dillingham announced his top four schools. Auburn was one of the schools listed. The other schools listed were Louisville, Kentucky, and USC. He is also set to announce his commitment on June 24th at 7 ET.

Dillingham is regarded as a five-star according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 165 pounds. Here is what 247Sports’ director of  scouting Jerry Meyer had to say about Dillingham and his style of play:

Has a thin build but has length at 6-2 with long arms. Has a feel for controlling horizontal space. Possesses a special feel space and time on the court. Combines this awareness with an elite burst of quickness to gain separation. Highly confident sharp shooter from deep. Has a deft hop back jumper going to his right. Pulls up with effectiveness in the midrange going either direction. Loves to shoot a runner going left when can’t get to the rim. Slick ball handler and crafty finisher. Has it on a string and can find teammates while penetrating. Lack of size and strength can be a detriment on the boards and defensively. Is an active and disruptive defender, nonetheless. Has tremendous upside as a dynamic playmaker who just needs to gain strength and mass as he develops.

The North Carolina native was once committed to the in-state North Carolina State Wolfpack before re-opening his recruitment. He has been highly coveted since his decision to decommit. The Tigers have their work cut out for them, as the only school that he has taken an official visit to is Kentucky. At the present time, On3’s RPM is in favor of Kentucky at 80.8%.

Head coach Bruce Pearl would love to add Dillingham to the 2023 class. Although nothing is set in stone, there have been some ramblings that Dillingham will commit and reclassify into the 2022 class, which means he’ll enroll early at the school that he chooses. Auburn fans will have their fingers crossed on Friday night.
